NPES provides continuing leadership in the development of national and
international standards for the printing industry. These include safety standards for printing, publishing and converting equipment, as well as technical standards that address data exchange, process control and metrology. These standards provide uniform, defined procedures and tools that help users produce quality products for their customers via methods that are faster, safer, more efficient and cost-effective.
NPES serves as secretariat to the following American National Standards
Institute (ANSI) accredited standards committees:
- CGATS, Committee for Graphic Arts Technologies Standards
- B65 Committee for safety standards for printing, publishing and converting technologies
- The U.S. Technical Advisory Group to the International Organization for Standardization’s Technical Committee 130, Graphic Technology
NPES also serves as secretariat to the International Color Consortium, an
organization devoted to developing a standard that will enable different devices to translate their color definition information into a standard color interchange space so that the receiving device can then interpret that data into the appropriate color.
