For the Printing, Publishing and Converting Industries Dear Industry Colleague: Safety 1st in the Twenty 1st is the theme of a new printing, publishing and converting industry safety awareness campaign featuring the distribution of safety-oriented promotional logo stickers by major industry associations, manufacturers, and printers, publishers and converters. The green and black stickers are ideal for affixing to correspondence, packages, bills of lading, press kits, product literature and many other documents, as a continuing reminder to industry personnel to follow safe operating procedures in the workplace. They are available free in rolls of 250. More than 190,000 of these stickers have already been distributed to diverse locations. From a major press manufacturer and printer to a small town in Washington State, the Government Printing Offices Safety Department, Mississippi Prison Industries and the Brazilian Association of Graphic Technologies, people are finding plenty of use for the Safety 1st stickers. The town of Puyallup, WA asked permission to adapt the stickers for its own use. Heidelberg USA ordered a supply of more than 20,000 stickers, for use on all outgoing mailings to its customers, and R.R. Donnelley and Sons ordered 10,000. Promoting Safety 1st in the Twenty 1st offers the perfect opportunity to underscore your commitment to safe work practices and safe workplaces. Its a simple but effective idea. We hope all will catch the spirit and put Safety 1st in the Twenty 1st. For complete information, contact the NPES Government Affairs Department at 703/264-7200 or e-mail govaffairs@npes.org.
