Updated and expanded how-to booklet focusing specifically on cleaning of lithographic offset webfed equipment. This revision of the earlier manual Safe Cleaning of Offset and Letterpress Printing Equipment provides a general discussion of safety procedures including common misconceptions and hazards, a guide to preventing accidents and procedures for cleaning webfed printing systems, including the dampening and inking systems; printing cylinders; roll stand, infeed and rewind; folder, sheeter, perforator and punch unit; numbering machines and pattern gluers; frames, braces and electrical equipment and safe handling of chemicals.

OSHA'S Lockout/Tagout Regulation and the Printing Industry
A comprehensive 15-minute videotape and printed manual which:

  • Illustrates the proper workplace operating procedures
  • Explains the applications of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration s lockout/tagout rule to the printing and publishing industry, and
  • Demonstrates the inch-safe-service technique, an OSHA-approved alternative to lockout/tagout for certain routine maintenance procedures.

The package also includes:

  • A copy of the lockout/tagout regulation, as well as the clarification letter that OSHA sent to its field compliance officers regarding the regulation, and
  • An outline of how your company can develop a safe operating plan.

The package was jointly produced by NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing and Publishing Technologies, the Graphic Arts Technical Foundations, the National Association of Printers and Lithographers, and Printing Industries of America.
