With the population's rising standard of living, the Chinese printing industry is adopting the latest technologies and more products to serve domestic customers—offering new opportunities for U.S. manufacturers of printing equipment and technologies. According to the recent NPES study, "World-Wide Market for Print 2.0: Global Opportunities in Packaging (2011-2020)," the U.S. and China together represented 60% of the total global print packaging market in 2015. While their combined market share will remain essentially the same (at 59%) in 2020, China will have gained considerably against the U.S.
China's printing market concentration has been in the three major regions of the Pearl River Delta region, the Yangzi River Delta region and the Bohai Bay region. While the Pearl River Delta region remains the top producer in sales and production, new growth in the west and central regions is strong from domestic demand and direct government policies.
