THE
HAROLD W. GEGENHEIMER AWARDS 2006 NPES Gegenheimer Awards to Clark, Baldwin Technologies Jerry Clark, Director of Sales for Graphics Microsystems, and Baldwin Technologies Company received the 2006 Harold W. Gegenheimer individual and corporate Awards for Industry Service at the NPES annual conference November 6 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The awards, named for a former NPES President and Chairman Emeritus of Baldwin Technology Company, recognize qualities which Harold Gegenheimer stood for – a lifelong commitment to technical innovation, sound management, support for education and research and working for the good of the whole industry. The winners receive plaques, and NPES will contribute two $1,000 scholarships in the name of Clark and Baldwin Technologies Company to the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation.
The Harold W. Gegenheimer Awards for Industry Service, established by the NPES Board of Directors in 1993, are presented annually to a member company of NPES and an individual employed by a member to recognize leadership and commitment to building a strong future for the printing and publishing industry and its suppliers. The awards are named in honor of the Chairman Emeritus of Baldwin Technology Company and a former President and active leader of NPES in recognition of his lifelong commitment to technical innovation, sound management, support for education and research and working for the good of the whole industry beyond the limits of his company's interests. The Awards consist of a plaque presented to the corporate and individual recipients and plaques displayed at the NPES office to which the recipient names are added. NPES has established two Harold W. Gegenheimer Award scholarships with the National Scholarship Trust Fund, to which $1,000 is given in the name of each recipient each year. These scholarships are offered first to employees or children of employees of NPES members who are pursuing studies in graphic communications. AWARD CRITERIA The Awards are presented to a member company and an employee of a member company who have demonstrated leadership and commitment to the industry through participation in NPES and industry activities, civic leadership and technical innovation. NOMINATION PROCEDURES Nominations for the Individual and Corporate Service Awards may be made by the delegate of any NPES member company, by completing a single-page form. A delegate may nominate his/her own company or an employee of the company, but not the delegate him or herself. The current and immediate past chairmen of the Association shall not be eligible for the individual award, and their companies shall not be eligible for the corporate award until three years after the completion of the chairman's term. Nominations for the awards shall be submitted to the Awards Committee by September 15 of each year for presentations to be made at the NPES Annual Conference of that year. The Awards Committee shall be chaired by the past chairman of NPES and shall include at least three recognized industry leaders who are not employees of NPES member companies.
